At what age is it appropriate to take up rugby?...

if your in good health and your up to it, i see no reason why 28 is too late to try it out.

I was still playing until I was 42 and enjoying every minute of it. There was someone still turning out in the third's team who was 62. It's a great game to get into (not just the game itself but the whole social side of it), and as long as you're reasonably fit, then go for it.

actually, rugby teams cover all ages
i started a high school team, under 19s
there are also under 21 teams
normal rugby teams
and even over 40s teams
depending on your skill level, you can find a team that fits you perfectly
|

if you want to play professional.. then yes
if you want to play socially.. the no.. its never too late to play

Not at all, you might not get into your clubs firsts but there will probably be a thirds team that will give you a few games. Especially at 28 because most third teams are populated by wizened old men who can barely bend their knees.

it is never to late to play rugby there are alot of comps out there that cater for all ages
