Default Is my wrist pain from taekwondo "normal" or...

...should I rest my wrist for a while? My question is directed more towards others who do or have done taekwondo.

For the past few days, we've been doing axe kicks (the one where you move your leg in an arc and back down). Whenever I hold the pad, and my partner performs a strong axe kick on my pad, my wrist feels temporarily dislocated from its socket and hurts. I thought this was typical of all students who have to hold the pad while their partners kick, but I've noticed that my right wrist is a bit more strained than my left wrist.

I can still perform normal tasks, but I sense some pain in my right wrist. I was wondering if this pain is normal for people involved in taekwondo, or if I should rest my wrist for a while.

Thank you!

Wrist pain from holding the kicking pads for your partner is not normal at all. I've never experienced any wrist pain when I was active in taekwondo, holding the pads for my partners to practice their kicks with. Don't take it as a normal thing, expecting to feel pain each time you do it, and go to a doctor to determine what is exactly wrong with your wrist. Strong axe kicks should not cause you wrist pain, since the pads would absorb most of the damage.
